Privacy statement

This page explains which personal data I collect through climate-data.info, why I collect it, and what your rights are. Last updated: 15 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Climate-Data.info is run by JvE Advice, a sole proprietorship of Johan van Erven. I decide how and why your data is used, so I am the controller under the GDPR.

JvE Advice, Stadsmolen 123, 3146 CV Maassluis, the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 95150390, VAT number NL004434269B71. Email: info@jve-advice.com.

What I collect and why

I only collect what I need for the purpose below.

  • Demo requests: your email address, the language you were using, where you asked for the demo (preview or demo page) and the time. I use this to send you a sign-in link and to give you access to the demo reports. Basis: my legitimate interest in giving you the demo you asked for.
  • Use of the demo and the client portal: your email address, which report you open and when, and what you do inside the report (which buttons and choices you click, how long the report is open and how far you scroll). I use this to see which reports and functions are useful and to improve them. Basis: my legitimate interest in improving my service.
  • Website visits (anonymous): which page you view, the website you came from, your country, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), your screen width, how long the page is open, how far you scroll and which buttons or links you click. I use a counter without cookies and I do not store your IP address. To count visitors, a short code is made from your IP address and browser together with the date and a secret. The code changes every day, so I cannot recognise you on another day and I cannot link it to a person. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. Basis: my legitimate interest in knowing which information is read, so I can improve the website.
  • Follow-up: I may contact you once or twice about the demo or about my reports. I will not add you to a newsletter without your separate permission, and you can ask me to stop at any time. Basis: my legitimate interest in business contact.
  • Report requests, orders and invoices: your name, company, billing address, VAT number, the email addresses that should receive the report, the greenhouse location, crop and your remarks. I use this to deliver the report and to invoice you. Basis: the agreement with you and my legal obligation to keep accounting records.
  • Questions by email or phone: the details you send me, so I can answer you. Basis: my legitimate interest in answering your question.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not load fonts or scripts from other companies. It does count visits, but without cookies and without storing your IP address (see above). The counter is a small script from this website itself.

When you sign in to the client portal, your browser stores a sign-in session so that you stay signed in. This is strictly necessary for the portal to work, so it does not need your consent. Signing out removes it.

Who else handles your data

I do not sell your data. I use a few service providers who process data on my behalf, under data processing terms:

  • Cloudflare: hosts and delivers this website.
  • Supabase: database, sign-in, storage of the reports and the anonymous visit counts.
  • Brevo: sends emails such as your sign-in link.
  • Microsoft: my business email.

Transfer outside the EU

Some of these providers are based outside the European Union or may process data there. Where that is the case, they rely on an approved safeguard, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. If I add online payment later, I will update this statement first.

How long I keep your data

  • Demo requests and portal use: up to 24 months after your last activity.
  • Anonymous website statistics: up to 14 months.
  • Orders and invoices: 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires this.
  • Emails and other questions: as long as needed to answer you, and no longer than 24 months after the last contact.

Security

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Reports are stored privately and can only be opened by people who have been given access. Only I have access to the database with the personal data.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you your data, correct it, delete it, limit its use, or hand it over to you in a usable format. You can also object to the use of your data, for example for follow-up contact.

Send your request to info@jve-advice.com. I will reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

I may update this statement. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
