My Story

Hello, I’m Johan van Erven, the owner of JvE Advice and the founder of Climate-Data.info. I started Climate-Data.info after encountering difficulties in finding reliable, location-specific climate data that I could use in my advisory role and to help others facing the same challenge.

With a lifelong connection to horticulture, I grew up in a greenhouse as the son of a grower. After completing my studies, I worked in technical supply and installation as a sales representative for screening systems, where I developed a deep passion for climate management tools. After a decade in sales, I returned to my family’s business, where we established a Phalaenopsis orchid nursery. Over the 11 years we ran the nursery, I gained invaluable hands-on experience in climate control and learned how technologies—like screens, lighting, cooling, heating, and ventilation—impact greenhouse climate and crop growth.

When market conditions led to the closure of the nursery, I transitioned into a new role as a product specialist for a screening fabric manufacturer. In this role, I advise colleagues, growers, installers, and investors on optimal screening solutions tailored to their needs.

During this time, I realized that many long-term investment decisions for greenhouse climate control systems were based on outdated or overly general data. Especially in today’s rapidly changing climate, it’s crucial to consider a broader and more accurate range of information. However, finding reliable, location-specific climate data proved to be a significant challenge.

This gap inspired me to search for more comprehensive data, and once I found it, I knew I wanted to share it with others.
